Kimberly J. Lanham

Kimberly J. Lanham is a partner at Janklow Law Firm and specializes in personal injury and civil litigation including motor vehicle collisions, slip/trip and falls, daycare abuse, wrongful deaths, premises liability, and uninsured and underinsured motorist claims.  She has successfully tried numerous jury and court trials as well as participated in mediations and arbitrations.  She has achieved a Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating, awarded to only those lawyers with the highest ethical standards and professional ability.  Kimberly also handles bad faith, criminal defense, and family law matters.  Kimberly devotes 100% of her practice to litigation.

Kimberly is a native of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  She received a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in Criminal Justice and Spanish and a minor in Sociology from the University of South Dakota in 2001.  She then attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln School of Law and received her law degree in 2004.  While in law school, Kimberly successfully completed a Program of Concentrated Study of Litigation Skills.  In 2004, she was admitted to the State Bar of South Dakota and has been an active member since that date, serving on the Civil Pattern Jury Instructions Committee (2013-2018), Negligence & Tort Committee (2009-2013 – Committee Chair from 2011-2013, and 2019 – present), and Women in Law (since 2004 – President Elect 2008-2009 and President 2009-2010).  She is also a member of the American Bar Association and South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association.

In addition to having achieved a Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating, Kimberly has received several honors and awards in recognition of her outstanding academic performance.  She is a Phi Beta Kappa, which is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious honor society for the liberal arts and sciences.  She was also a member of the Nebraska Moot Court Board and The Order of the Barristers.  She was a semi-finalist in the Thomas Stinson Allen Moot Court Competition in 2003 and was the recipient of the Kenneth L. Noha Memorial Award for the best brief in the Allen Moot Court Competition.  She was actively involved during law school by serving as the Treasurer for the Equal Justice Society; Recruitment Chair for Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity; a First Year Orientation Leader; a College of Law Student Ambassador; and was chosen during her third-year of law school to serve as a First-Year Legal Research and Writing Problem Writer.   

After receiving her law degree, Kimberly joined the Johnson, Heidepriem, Janklow, Abdallah & Johnson law firm in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and remained employed with that firm until September 1, 2008, at which time she joined the Janklow Law Firm, Prof. L.L.C. in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  She practiced law with the Janklow Law Firm, Prof. L.L.C. until September 1, 2015 when the Janklow Law Firm merged with the law firm of Johnson, Abdallah, Bollweg & Parsons, L.L.P.  

In her spare time, Kimberly enjoys spending time with her family, running, golfing, and traveling.  She also remains very active in her community serving on her church’s Board of Education and Council.
